Developed by the Agriculture and Agri-food Canada at the Morden Research Station in Manitoba, the Parkland Series of roses have been created specifically to withstand the harsh climates in Canada. Beginning in 1962, the breeding program led by Dr. Henry Heard Marshall crossed several showy floribunda species with the hardy r. Arkansas prairie rose to create the first Parkland roses. Like their Explorer cousins, the Parklands are able to withstand the severe cold of Canadian winters of up to -35°C, yet perform wonderfully in the intense summers.

Easy to Care for and Disease-Resistant

Parklands are generally easy to care for and disease-resistant. This makes them a great choice for beginner and experienced gardeners. Most Parklands are shrub roses and will generally reach mature sizes of 3-4' tall and wide. This can allow for plenty of options for garden placement when space is a constraint, as well as container planting.
